Southern Portugal remains on highest fire alert

The Algarve is once again the area of greatest concern today due to the risk of fires.
 
According to the Portuguese Met Office, fire-fighters in Monchique, Silves, Loulé, São Brás de Alportel, Tavira, Alcoutim and Castro Marim will today be placed on the highest state of readiness to the imminent danger of fires.
Other parts of the country on maximum alert include parts of Santarém, Portalegre, Castelo Branco, Guarda and Bragança.

The advisory is issued based on prevailing weather conditions such as forecast maximum temperatures, lack of humidity and blustery conditions.
